Boating with CBC

We are a friendly and informal club who take pride in our harbour. With a wide range of boating interests among our members, we enjoy learning from and sharing our experience with one another.

Cockwood Harbour is safe and sheltered. Access to the main estuary is underneath the railway bridge, meaning the harbour is better suited to smaller boats. It is an ideal place for exploring the beautiful natural diversity of the Exe Estuary. Being at the southern end of the estuary, the harbour also has easy access to Lyme Bay.

Our members have a range of boats. We have kayak racks and a pontoon for dinghy mooring, providing access to moorings in the harbour and boats moored in the estuary.

Traditionally, Cockwood Harbour was a place for rowing boats, and we are pleased to see rowing boats making a comeback in the harbour. We even have a number of traditional wooden boats.

The harbour is suitable for small leisure and fishing boats, and there are a number of small sailing boats with collapsible masts (to get under the bridge!) All boats are limited to a maximum length of 25 feet.

The sheltered nature of the harbour also makes it a good location for safe winter mooring.

It’s great to see members active on the water and pursuing their particular boating interest.
