About CBC

We are a friendly, community boat club located in the small harbour of Cockwood, on the western shores of the Exe Estuary, just south of Exeter in Devon.

We aim to cater for a wide range of boating interests, from kayaks and canoes to small sailing boats and motor cruisers. Our idyllic harbour is tidal, and we benefit from the wide range of wildlife that visits the Exe Estuary from far and wide throughout the year.

We have an active local membership with a real community feel. Members must live within 40 miles of Cockwood. The harbour provides moorings for vessels up to a maximum length of 25 feet. This limit is extended to 30 feet however only for the ‘out of season’ winter period.

The club is managed by an elected general committee, which meets four times a year. We also hold an Annual General Meeting every November. The core committee consists of the Commodore, Secretary, Treasurer and Harbour Master, supported by a wider general committee. We are always happy to welcome new members to the wider committee.

Our meetings are often followed by social gatherings for all members – a chance to chat and swap stories from the boating season.

We also regularly have work parties, where volunteers give their time to help improve and maintain the harbour. These are very informal and open to everyone, and we always welcome new hands.
